Dr. Lenzen was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. from Mercer University before going onto the Tulane University School of Medicine, where he completed his Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Lenzen is a certified MD and Fellow of the College of Chest Physicians who won Intern of the Year for his internal medicine work at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Lenzen has board certifications in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Lenzen got involved in pulmonology during subspecialty rotation in his third year as an internal medicine resident due to the enduring influence of the Chief of Pulmonary Medicine at the time. Dr. Lenzen loves his job because of the people and the patients who come through. He enjoys building the doctor/patient relationship, and finds it gratifying to help them and see them feel better. The particularly special moments are when patients allow him to pray with them when a need arises.
In his free time, Dr. Lenzen loves to steep himself in international mission work, hiking, exercise, and local outreach projects with the church he attends. He loves the beauty of the Tennessee mountains, the state’s volunteer spirit, and the people – of whom Dr. Lenzen and his wife have a saying, “Tennessee Nice.”
