Pneumocystis Pneumonia (PCP) is a serious fungal infection which causes the lungs to inflame and build up fluid. Most are exposed to this fungus by the age of 3 or 4 and a healthy immune system is strong enough to easily fight off an infection from this exposure. However, individuals with a weakened immune system, such as those with HIV/AIDS, will likely suffer from PCP.
